Gulu Municipality communities are annoyed with their leaders over shoddy work

Gulu Municipality communities noted with a lot of distress the increasing cases of poor service delivery emitted by the constructors in the Municipality. The fuming communities are disappointed with the construction work displayed by the constructor who was granted a contract to construct water tunnel along Gulu Municipality Streets three months ago at a cost of over Uganda Shilling fifty million. Report indicated that over 50% of the culverts constructed along streets in the Municipality have collapse just after three months when they were constructed. They cited among others culverts built along Eromia Opio Road and that along Jomo Kenyata Road opposite Ameda and Son Traders. Increasing cases of shoddy work in Gulu Municipality contract sector is a result of bribery by the constructors who are awarded contracts and failure by the concern authorities to carryout regular supervision and monitoring of construction works and other government program as reported by a community member who requested for his name. He then urged the Municipality authorities to involved local people in the supervision processes of public affairs as means of achieving value for money in the construction department.
