Health workers lack descent staff houses

13:52 Mar 28 2012 Apac

Description
VSACs of Kidilani Parish, Chegere Sub-County in Apac District reported that the staff at Kidilani Health Center II decent accommodation. They noted that as many staff were reporting late for duty, the community got concerned and constructed some single grass thatched houses but some staffs have opted to commute from their homes which are quite far from the health centre. They gave an example of one nurse who commutes from her home in Atinglaki village which is around 8kms from the health centre. They said that at times she arrives at the health centre at mid day and leaves by 3:00pm. At the end of it, not all the patients at the centre are attended to.
Still related to the above, they noted that the health centre Potter was operated four months ago and is still on sick leave. However, they noted that he does not have any documentation showing that he is on leave because of delays at Apac district referral hospital. There is no one who was assigned to step in for him and this has resulted to the health centre being quite busy making it risky for the users.
