"Everyone, Everyday, Every way: Prevent Violence Against Women Your Way. PDF Print E-mail
“Today is the 25th of November and for the next fortnight the world will be calling for the elimination of gender based violence. Many prominent and influential men and women would make token appearances at gender events and make politically correct statements.
For once lets expose all those who support gender injustice and inequality but still want the world to believe otherwise. Gender equality and justice should not be an event it should become part of our everyday lives” Muzulu from Zimbabwe.

As WOUGNET, every year we join the rest of the world in marking the 16 Days of Activism from 25 November 2011 to 10 December .This year, the regional theme for Africa is "Everyone, Everyday, Every way: Prevent Violence Against Women Your Way! " to reflect our call out to every individual that whoever you are, you have the power to act and prevent violence against women.
For this year, Women of Uganda Network (WOUGNET) will be joining women organisations both within and out of Uganda to campaign end Violence against Women. The national theme for Uganda this year is “From Peace in the Home   to Peace in the Nation:  Lets   Challenge Militarism and End Violence against Women”.
With generous support from the Association for Progressive Communication (APC), WOUGNET has organised a number of activities to take place during the 16 days of activism. These are:
•    An SMS  campaign
•    Blogging on stories  of Violence Against Women on: www.wougnet.org
•    Mapping   stories  of Violence  and uploading  them on a  Ushahid  platform
•    Hold an Advocacy event to high light Violence against Women Entrepreneurs that will take place on 29th November at Metropole Hotel, Windsor Crescent.

Please join us in  the activism by sending your contributions or messages (SMS) to +256 (0)779053756 expressing your interest to be part of the campaign.
