NUWODU is the National Union of Women with Disabilities of Uganda which was formed in November 1999. It is an indigenous umbrella organisation of national and district based organisations of women with disabilities that bring together all categories of women with disability in Uganda including the physically disabled, sensory and mentally impaired women.
NUWODU has received funds from Action On Disability and Development (ADD) to implement a project “Mitigating gender based violence against women and girls with disabilities in Gulu and Pader in Northern Uganda” and is seeking to recruit a dynamic, energetic and result-oriented person to take up the position of Project Officer to implement the project.
Employment period: One year. Duty station: Gulu Reports to: The Program Coordinator at the head office who is the immediate supervisor. The Project Officer will be in charge of the project in the districts of Gulu and Pader.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities include: - Head the project district Secretariat.

- Organize and participate in the trainings of women and girls with disabilities in the target Sub-counties as indicated in the implementation schedule.

- Organize lobby meetings with different target stakeholders in liaison with the district association of women and girls with disabilities Executive Committee.

- Organize Advocacy meetings for the parents of WWDs and GWDs, police and other relevant partners on mitigating gender based violence against women and girls with disabilities in the target districts.

- Coordinate all district activities related to the project.

- Participate in planning and budgeting for the district project activities.

- Manage, account and compile financial reports for the funds remitted to the project district.

- Handle correspondences between the project district and all other target stakeholders in relation to the project.

- Compile and submit periodic narrative and financial reports to the head office.

- Maintain and ensure safe custody of all the association’s property.

- Establish linkages with relevant stakeholders at the district levels.
Job requirements: Educational background could be a minimum diploma in Social Work and Social Sciences. Administration/Community Development from a recognized University/Institution. Background in Project Planning and Management and Certificates in relevant courses such as Gender mainstreaming in project planning and management will be an added advantage. Comprehensively knowledge about disability Financial Management Skills. Excellent networking and advocacy skills. Good communication and mobilization skills. Fluency in oral and written English and Luo. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to live and work in a rural setting. Computer skills and ability to use Ms Word, Excel, Power point. 3 years practical experience in project work, preferably in an NGO.
