Warid Petitioned to Withdraw the Double Delight Advert PDF Print E-mail

Over the last month, January 2011, there has been widespread concern over the Warid Double Delight ‘Bonus Wife’ Advert aired on radios and on bill boards that depicts women negatively; as tokens or gifts of appreciation or enticement. This followed expression of views in newspapers, online discussions; mailing lists such as This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it   and This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , WOUGNET Facebook Page.

An online petition was created by Women of Uganda Network and 142 people signed the petition see responses here

The petition was submitted to the Marketing Manager, Warid Telecom on 2nd February 2011, who promised to forward it to their legal department for action. He also noted that they (Warid) had been following the online discussions.
