According to Mr. Alyamanya Mugisha, the Executive Director of National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) in Uganda, the landslide was a natural disaster that was primarily a result of heavy rains and gravitational force.

On the Tuesday of 17^th of march 2010 at around 5:00am, landslides occurred on the slopes of Mountain Elgon, Bududa village, Manafa District in Uganda-East Africa. 30 people are feared dead, 1500 missing with million of property destroyed, the  ministry is trying its best to resue people and resstle the survivars.

In another interview with the Minister of Disaster Prepairedness, Professor Tarsis Kabwejjere, he also said  that the disaster was caused by  a number of factors including heavy rains, enchroachment on the Environment among others.
