Northern Uganda Transformational Leadership Enhancement Programme for Women PDF Print E-mail

Icon Women and Young Peoples Leadership Academy is pleased to announce its call for applications for the 2010 Northern Uganda Transformational Leadership Enhancement Program for Women. The Northern Uganda Leadership Enhancement  Program is designed to identify, promote and ignite the potential for visionary leadership of women within this region. It is  open for Ugandan women aged 18 years and above.

Icon Women and Young People’s Leadership Academy (IWYPLA) is a Ugandan Civil Society Organization that is dedicated to working with women, children and young people (male and female) in Uganda and all over Africa to discover and develop their potential for visionary leadership. Icon envisions “a totally transformed, progressive and violence free Uganda and Africa” and its mission is “to fully ignite the potential for visionary leadership in Uganda’s and Africa’s women and young people through the facilitation and promotion of self-help, self-determination and self-empowerment approaches”.

Through this Northern Uganda programme, women from diverse fields (education, agriculture, science, technology, health, economic development, environment, human rights, democracy, governance etc) and social economic backgrounds will be equipped with knowledge and skills that will change their mindsets and attitudes and thus foster individual development and positive transformation of their respective community, the nation, Africa and the world. Individual women are encouraged to grow within their society and take up leadership action. Support for social or business innovations is provided through ongoing individual and peer mentorship and coaching, organizational development support and exposure placements.


Who should apply?
This programme is open to Ugandan women aged 18 years and above, who are natives of and based in Northern Uganda, are passionate about changing their world and believe it is their responsibility to do so.

All applications must be submitted no later than Monday 29th March 2010.

NOTE:
Successful 2010 applicants must be ready to initially commit one week during the third week of April 2010 to attend the first part of this program. Each applicant must be nominated by someone familiar with their work and character. Nominators and referees must not be relatives of applicants. Referees must have worked with the applicant (current or past).
