Take Back the Tech Campaign PDF Print E-mail

WOUGNET in partnership with the Association for Progressive Communications Women’s Networking Programme (APC WNSP) is hosting a local Take Back the Tech Campaign in Uganda. Take Back the Tech is a collaborative global campaign that calls on all ICT users to take control of technology and use it to change gender power relations. WOUGNET will be working to localise actions of the Take back the Tech Campaign in Uganda during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence from November 25 to December 10, 2009.

Among WOUGNET's activities is an SMS campaign which involves sending out two SMSes a day on topical issues for the campaign. The SMSes and the responses to them are posted online where visitors and participants are welcome to leave comments. The TBTT SMS Campaign has drawn participants primarily from across Uganda.
