| Public Dialogue to mark 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence |

In recognition, of the newly passed Domestic Violence Law and to mark the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence, the Department of Women and Gender Studies and the Gender Mainstreaming Division, Makerere University, have organized a Public Dialogue to celebrate this achievement of law as well as discuss and explore strategies to advocate for the enactment of the Marriage and Divorce Bill. The theme for the Dialogue is 'Family Laws: Creating a Gender-Responsive Family Environment in Uganda'. The Public Dialogue will take place on Monday 23rd November, 2009 at 1.45 pm at Lecture Room 2, Department of Women and Gender Studies, Makerere University. Topics to be addressed include 'Enforcement mechanisms for the Domestic Violence Law' and 'A gender-based interrogation of the proposed Marriage and Divorce Bill'. The Guest of Honor is Hon.
