Africa ICT Week, 16 - 20 November 2009 PDF Print E-mail
The African Union Commission is observing the Africa ICT week (AICTW), 16th – 20th November 2009. This follows the 2005 Tunis commitment that re-affirms to benefit the best possible from the capacities and potentials of ICT by inviting all the governments to adapt ICT for sustainable development while sustaining the national, regional and international cooperation.

The AICTW is meant to provide the constant reflection of the gains Africa has made in harnessing ICTs to realize a knowledge based economy. In this regard, the African Union Commission has communicated to all member states to contribute actively in implementing the Africa ICT week activities on national and regional levels.

Cognizant of the African Union Commission (AUC) initiative towards observing the AICTW, the Ministry of ICT is organising a seminar on this year’s theme: “ICTs in Africa: Challenges and Prospects for Development”. This is scheduled to take place on the 19th November 2009 at the Sheraton Hotel Kampala at 5:00pm.

This is, therefore, to invite all stakeholders from the Government, private sector, academia, civil society and the general public to join us in the celebration of the Africa ICT Week by participating in this event.
