ActionAid - Chief Executive
“...overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice.”

We are looking for an inspirational leader committed to justice and poverty eradication through a rights-based approach, taking sides with poor and excluded people around the world.

ActionAid is an international anti-poverty agency formed in 1972. We are a partnership, between people in poor and rich countries, working with over 25 million of the world's poorest and excluded people to secure their rights to a life free of poverty and injustice. We work with over 2,000 local partners and social movements in over 40 countries and are supported by half a million donors and campaigners. ActionAid has a unique vision and direction. It doesn't impose solutions, but actively partners with communities to strengthen their own efforts to eradicate poverty in a sustainable manner.

ActionAid International is seeking a courageous and inspiring leader as our next Chief Executive. Based at our International Secretariat in South Africa, you will lead the development and implementation of ActionAid's next global strategy.

You will ensure that our process of internationalisation is successfully embedded to make ActionAid more accountable to the people and communities that we serve especially in the South, and to move us closer to the ultimate vision of eradicating poverty.

You will have the strategic and operational capabilities required to lead a large, complex organisation and to influence at all levels within the organisation. You will also have the presence and ability to engage with diverse public audiences at an international
level. You will bring an understanding of rights-based development or related experience. You will also be a strongly consultative and decisive leader who is able to bring alignment and coherence across various stakeholder groups.
