Women of Uganda Network in collaboration with BROSDI organized a two day training on how to use web 2.0 tools. The training which started on 23rd March 2009 ended today 24th March 2009. The training centered around Blogging, though we did address other questions and issues too, such as why blogging, digital story telling ,use of citizen-media tools other than blogging; and how blogging might be employed to address poverty, violence, child sacrifice among other issues. The training was attended by 26 participants who came from several organizations. It was intended to build the capacity of bloggers and improve on the skills of the citizen journalists who were trained late last year in September in a number of citizen media tools. The participants experienced hands on training on how to upload articles, picture blogs and Audio blogs. They learnt how to download photos from digital cameras and upload them inform of blogs. They were introduced to other networking tools like RSS, skype and facebook. Members who did not have email addresses had an opportunity to open up some. They were also taught how to use the dgroup(http://www.d2.dgroups/hivos/cja-uganda) to send emails, articles, to post announcements and to contribute to the library. They expressed a number of challenges such as lack of electricity for those who came from rural area, high costs of internet access and limited skills in the use of ICTs. Some of their recommendations were that trainings should be carried out at least twice every year and that they should take more days than they usually do since most participants have difficulties in using ICTs.
