Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are important tools in reducing poverty, improving education and healthcare, enhancing political participation and empowerment, and promoting sustainable development. One of the most important valuable advantages of ICTs is it’s potential to strengthen and expand links, networks and networking initiatives.Social movements including the women’s movement have used various ICT tools to expand links and connections outside their physical and geographical reach.Different ICTs like emails, sms and internet have also been used for advocacy. Many advocacy campaigns are directed at generating policy changes in government, institutional and other policy making bodies.ICTs are increasingly used as tools in most advocacy undertakings because of their effectives in group communication and interactivity.Women of Uganda Network (WOUGNET) extensively uses these tools for policy advocacy to forge a head gender justice and equality. These range from sms campaigns, administering an electronic newsletter, using a mailing list and blogging among others.Access of ICTs by women through education, employment and sensitization will make it possible for nations to realize the idea of gender equality in as far as access to technology for both men and Women is concerned.
