Women of Uganda Network (WOUGNET) is one of the Project Partners of STOP AIDS NOW (SAN) Project, a project managing HIV and AIDS in the work place. The project is a partnership between five Dutch Co-funding Non Governmental Organisations that include: Hivos, ICCO, Memisa (Cordaid), Novib (Oxfarm) and Aids fonds, established in 2000. The mission of the partnership is working together towards a world without AIDS. SAN Project has enabled WOUGNET develop the HIV/AIDs policy at the work place. The purpose of the policy is to minimise, monitor the policy response and manage the spread and impact of HIV and AIDS on the employees and operations of WOUGNET.

Specifically the policy aims at:

<!--[if !supportLists]-->1.      <!--[endif]-->Providing information to employees on HIV and AIDs, its magnitude, impact and preventive measures

<!--[if !supportLists]-->2.      <!--[endif]-->Providing care and support to all staff infected with HIV and AIDs and their family members

<!--[if !supportLists]-->3.      <!--[endif]-->Enabling staff and their family members who are affected with HIV /AIDs to access treatment

<!--[if !supportLists]-->4.      <!--[endif]-->Promoting non- discriminatory practices and procedures while managing individuals who have HIV/AIDs

<!--[if !supportLists]-->5.      <!--[endif]-->Developing positive attitudes towards individuals who have HIV and AIDs through specialised counseling and giving open talks specific to staff with procedures aiming at stopping discrimination.

This policy applies to all WOUGNET employees and close family members and, WOUGNET members. The policy has been operationalised and some of the activities being done by WOUGNET include:

<!--[if !supportLists]-->1.      <!--[endif]-->AIDS education among the staff.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->2.      <!--[endif]-->Dissemination of AIDS information. WOUGNET has put an HIV/AIDS corner in office for the purposes of passing on information to its staff, members and friends.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->3.      <!--[endif]-->WOUGNET is also distributing free condoms among staff, members and friends.

WOUGNET would like to encourage all its members, to develop HIV/AIDs workplace policies to enable them manage HIV/AIDS in their organisations.
