An email titled 'Will Web 2.0 Give Birth to Journalism 2.0" was posted to the Web2ForDev list. Here is what was posted: Reader participation, user-generated content and social networks are having an impact on journalism, and that impact is likely to grow in the future. But will Web 2.0 give birth to a new form of journalism? That question will be examined at the annual World Editors Forum, to be held in Sweden from 1 - 4 June. More information is at http://www.wan-press.org/article16820.html As we participate in the Citizen Journalism in Africa ToT in Dar es Salaam, one immediate answer to the question would be yes. Citizen journalism is not new per se, but it is the Web 2.0 tools that immensely increase the possibilities for becoming a citizen journalist and/or applying citizen journalism techniques. Already during the course of this workshop we have figured out that we can use a combination of RSS and del.icio.us to get WOUGNET members and visitors to contribute to building the Links and resources section of the WOUGNET website through adding their favourite sites through the del.icio.us website.
