Warid Petitioned to Withdraw the Double Delight Advert PDF Print E-mail

Over the last month, January 2011, there has been widespread concern over the Warid Double Delight ‘Bonus Wife’ Advert aired on radios and on bill boards that depicts women negatively; as tokens or gifts of appreciation or enticement. Moremi Initiative for Women's Leadership in Africa (Moremi Initiative) has announced its call for applications for the 2011 Moremi Leadership mpowerment and Development (MILEAD) Fellows Program.

The deadline for completed applications to be submitted for review is March 30, 2011.

The Beverley Nambozo Poetry Award is back for a third round of poetic passion. This time, the theme is Hope. Previous first winners are not permitted to re-enter. There are cash prizes worth thousands of US dollars, books and jewellery to be won.

New communications board sworn in: Dr. Dorothy Okello to head the Eight Member Board PDF Print E-mail

AN interim board that will head the transitional body of the newly-merged Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) and the Broadcasting Council was sworn in yesterday.  The board is tasked with streamlining the content in broadcasting houses to suit the interests of the consumers.  The eight-member board appointed by ICT minister Aggrey Awori is headed by Dr. Dorothy Okello.
