GetH20's Merel van der Woude is in and around Kampala to share about the GetH20 Game pack, which consists of a mobile phone and a guideline for engaging young people with the game. GetH20 is a mobile phone game to engage young people on issues such as community development and conflict prevention. A workshop to introduce the game took place on Wednesday 31st August at Colline Hotel in Mukono. WOUGNET was represented by Javie Ssozie, WOUGNET Technical Support Officer, and Stephanie Nitschke, WOUGNET Volunteer Manager.

The Collaboration on International ICT Policy for East and Southern (CIPESA) in conjunction with the Women of Uganda Network (WOUGNET) and Hive Colab organised the 4th Uganda Internet Governance Forum (IGF) under the theme “Harnessing Internet Development. The forum was held on August 10, 2011 at Hive Colab premises in Kampala, brought together over 50 ICT enthusiasts.

Enter the competition to win EUR 1000 and join NEPAD’s 10th Anniversary! The New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Agency and the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA) have joined forces in celebrating NEPAD’s 10th Anniversary. It is within this context of reflecting over the advancement of the African development agenda, that the two institutions are jointly organising an essay competition under the theme; “Looking at ICTs and entrepreneurship in agriculture and rural development through the eyes of women and the youth”.

ICT4RD 2011, to be held from 1-3 November 2011 in Johannesburg, is the first African conference to apply these emerging technologies and practices to rural development, and provide new thought leadership at a time when the continent is poised for innovation and change. The conference aims to bring together government officials, development practitioners, ICT specialists, investors, NGOs and social entrepreneurs from across Sub-Saharan Africa – and beyond – to confront the realities of rural development and explore the innovative use of ICTs to catalyze the growth of ICT4RD solutions for scale in Africa.
