Once every five years CTA --with input from key partners-- gets an opportunity to examine its role and devise a new strategy to guide its work. The strategy serves to prioritise and implement the programmes, projects and activities in the following 5 years. Strategic planning is therefore critical to ensure that CTA not only takes stock of past accomplishments, but remains relevant and responsive to changes and trends in the external environment in which it operates. Moreover, strategic planning offers the Centre the opportunity to re-examine its unique role in supporting agricultural and rural development institutions in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific (ACP) and ensure it remains relevant, responsive and forward-looking. CTA has now embarked on a process of developing its strategy for 2011-2015. As part of this process, CTA will be convening a strategy synthesis workshop in Wageningen, the Netherlands from 5 – 7 October 2010. The workshop will bring together international experts and CTA staff to examine the information that has been gathered through various studies and stakeholder surveys and help define strategic priorities for the Centre in the coming 5 years. |
