Activities undertaken in the year 2004/05
The activities YAAC is undertaking fall under three categories:
- HIV/AIDS/STDs Programme:
- Counselling services, i.e.
- VCT
- Referral for management of opportunistic infections
- Care and support for people living with AIDS and orphans through:
- Home visiting
- Distribution of food aid
- Animal traction
- HIV/AIDS/STDs Education through:
- Drama and songs
- Film shows and discussions
- Poems
- Talks
- Training of community HIV/AIDS workers
- Adolescents sexual Reproductive Health and Rights Enhancement. This is through:
- Life skills discussion in schools AIDS clubs
- Essay competitions and Debates
- Girl child Education Campaign
- Film show/Discussion on RH related issues.
- Adult Education (through “REFLECT” methodology)
- Adult Literacy
- Implementation of action points raised
- Gender empowerment.
- Legal aid education
