We operate an internal savings scheme. Loans are given to group members monthly at an interest of 10% of the principal.
Tusubira Women's Group acquired new sewing machines that can be used to sew different materials. They sew clothes which are put on open market and also get tenders from schools to make uniforms. At every beginning of the year they train girls who want to learn the sewing techniques and it is from these that they choose who to retain. The girls retained are given a token of 20,000/= only at the end of the month. After April when the sewing of uniforms is over, they make dresses, shirts which are displayed in their show room on Jinja Rd opposite Uganda Womenfinance Bank-Kamuli branch so that they can be bought. Money got from such activities is saved and lent out to a member with a problem to solve it. After one month, this money is returned to the group with an interest of 10%. They bought a crossbreed cow which is on zero grazing. Counselling services are also provided to the widows and orphans within the group, affected by HIV/AIDS. |
