Prior to the 7th Pan African Congress held from 3-8th April 1994 in Kampala, Uganda, women met and agreed to establish a Pan African Women Liberation Organization which would increase the participation of women in the congress and put gender issues at the center of the Pan African Movement, and to continuously assess progress made towards achieving the resolutions of the Congress. PAWLO is not intended to be a reinvention of the wheel. It seeks to facilitate networking and coordination of issues related to the liberation of African women on the continent and in the Diaspora from all forms of oppression. PAWLO is supported by various women organisations, institutions, interested individuals, African governments, NGOs: both in Africa and in the Diaspora. You too can support our work.
