MYDEL Annual Report 2005 Online
Mengo Youth Development Link (MYDEL) is a Non Governmental Organization formed in the year 2000 by the group of vulnerable youth in Mengo Parish. MYDEL's mission is to empower the less privileged communities with managerial and marketable skills which will help them in the formation of self sustainable projects and income generating projects. The 2005 Annual Report highlights activities over the period April 2005 to April 2006.
Twaja-Twaja Gift-Awarding Ceremony, August 21, 2004, Mengo
Mengo Youth Development Link (MYDEL) hosted a gift-awarding ceremony on 21st August 2004. The function started at 4:00pm with a luncheon and ended at 8:00pm in Mengo.
During the gift awarding ceremony, beneficiaries called “Abagole” received gifts from fellow group members. The Abagole were members of “Twaja-Twaja Women’s Group” - We Strive for Development. Twaja-Twaja Women’s Group is an affiliate of Mengo Youth Development Link (MYDEL). It is one of the organisations that MYDEL empowers through capacity building programmes, gives minimal financial support and general advice, for sustainability.
The gift exchange between members is done in turns, where members in a particular group select a mugole for the day. There are 7 groups in all. The Abagole are showered with gifts and love from fellow group members as well as the whole group in general. The Abagole will continue being so until the next round of gift sharing. Twaja-Twaja members also help each other out in times of Hardship, incase one of their members loses a beloved one.
The function was flanked by Mr. Abbas Musoke, the area Local Council I (LCI)
