DAC undertakes Consultancy in the areas of:
- Training and Capacity Building in Gender and Development
Gender training is a continuous process aimed at improving gender analysis skills for policy makers and implementers.
- Development of Gender Sensitive Responsive Programmes
Gender responsive programmes are designed for organizations with interests in implementing gender responsive initiatives. In addition DAC provides technical guidance in their implementation.
- Gender Research and Advocacy
Gender research is one of the core operational areas of DAC. Increasingly decision-making in organizations is based on research findings and recommendations particularly in the area of gender where there is a lot of dynamics according to age, class, location, culture and so on. Attention should therefore be given to the gender related research for informed decision-making. DAC collaborates with other organizations to conceptualize and undertake gender related research programmes.
- Policy Research and Advocacy
This is mainly intended for organizations and institutions with interests in influencing government policy priorities. Government policies though acknowledge the gender inequalities, little efforts have been undertaken to mainstream gender instead gender is considered as an “add-on”. DAC collaborates with other organizations working for mainstreaming gender in government policies by undertaking policy analysis and designing appropriate advocacy strategies.
