- CEEWA-U with support from International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and Humanistic Institute for Cooperation with developing Countries (Hivos) is implementing an Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) Project to promote Community Economic Empowerment. - CEEWA WIRES (Women's Information Resource Electronic Service) is an initiative started in 1999. It is an Internet-based Information Resource Centre designed to provide relevant business information to women in Uganda with the end goal of empowering the small-scale entrepreneurs in Uganda. WIRES applies the power of technology through the use of databases for analysis/storage and the Internet for market research. The information is structured into animal rearing, crop growing, trade, women's groups and trade support organizations. Each of these segments has been extensively researched and vast information is available in terms of inputs, best practices, market prices, support organizations and the type of support they give, etc.

CEEWA is a regional organisation with chapters in Kenya, Lesotho, Mali, Senegal, Burkinafaso, Ghana, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi and South Africa.
CEEWA-U's Goal: To increase the level of women's access to and control over economic resources namely: credit, land, agricultural extension and information.
CEEWA-U's focus is limited to addressing the following gender concerns:
- Inappropriate microfinance delivery methodologies
- Inadequate participation of women and civil society in economic decision making
- Inadequate and inappropriate agricultural extension services
- Lack of awareness, limited use & application of ICTs for enterprise development
