The website is part of the 92 Group project entitled "Project of Danish Support for Increased Participation of Southern NGOs in the Johannesburg Summit". The Project's main aim is to boost the participation, in terms of quality as well as quantity, of the South's civil society in the preparation for and follow-up to the Johannesburg Summit.
The website contains information describing the preparations and initiatives in relation to the Johannesburg summit in 24 developing countries including Uganda and the Uganda RIO+10 Coalition which is working towards the WSSD. The vision of the Uganda RIO+10 Coalition is to provide local NGOs with the capacity to provide an alternative assessment report of Uganda's compliance to both the ethos of Agenda 21 and the conventions which resulted from the 1992 Rio conference. The long term vision is to boost the networking capability of the Ugandan environmental NGO community to enable them to act as an environmental watchdog to government policy and private sector practise.
