Abundant Life For All Ministries
Abundant Life For All Ministries (ALFA Ministries) became a fully registered Voluntary Christian Development Organisation in 2000; working in Uganda to promote rural community development initiatives and projects that focus on community participation, capacity building and ensuring that women, children and youths are the immediate beneficiaries. ALFA Ministries's mission is to improve the social and economic standards of the people living in rural communities and to assist them to achieve their highest potential so that they can become confident, competent, self supporting, with new possibilities for a dignified life by building democratic household and community foundations, capacity building and integrated rural community development initiatives/projects.

Action Line for development (ALFORD)
Founded in 1998, Action Line for development is a local Ugandan non-profit making organization, which was formed to improve the social and economic welfare of the people for equal participation in development. Areas of operation include education, health and community development initiatives. Operating in Kampala, Mpigi, Wakiso and northern districts of Uganda, the main target of the organization are vulnerable people and the less advantaged including children, the elderly and the disabled.

African Development Foundation
The African Development Foundation (ADF) is the principal agency of the U. S. Government that supports community-based, self-help initiatives that alleviate poverty and promote sustainable development in Africa. Established by Congress in 1980, it became operational in 1984. Over the last fifteen years, ADF has funded over 1300 activities in 34 African countries. The Foundation's headquarters are in Washington, D.C. It currently has active programs in thirteen sub-Saharan countries: Benin, Botswana, Cape Verde, Ghana, Guinea, Nigeria, Mali, Namibia, Niger, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. ADF works with a partner organization in each country in which it operates.
ADF is primarily interested in funding micro and small enterprises,micro-credit, HIV/AIDS education and prevention and community-based Natural Resource Management. The Foundation only funds indigenous African organizations and does not fund scholarships, travel to conferences, governmental or quasi-governmental organizations.

African Evaluation Association
The African Evaluation Association (AfrEA) was founded in 1999 in response to a growing demand in Africa for information sharing, advocacy and advanced capacity building in evaluation. It is an umbrella organization for a growing number of national evaluation associations and networks in Africa. It also involves individuals in countries where national bodies do not exist. In conjunction with the national associations and committed donors, AfrEA has helped develop the concept of an African evaluation community. Two Africa-wide evaluation conferences were held, African Evaluation Guidelines developed and directories for African evaluation expertise and other resources established. Africa's role in evaluation was also advocated from regional and international forums.
AfrEA is in the process of developing, in partnership with UNIFEM, a Special Interest Group (SIG) in Gender and Development. This SIG will focus on the creation and sharing of knowledge for engendering monitoring and evaluation in Africa. Among others, it is establishing an Africa-wide Network as well as Web-based Directory of gender and development evaluators. It will aim to strengthen the effectiveness and gender-responsiveness of development programs and projects in Africa through the use of rights based and results oriented participatory systems of monitoring and evaluation. The network will share information, resources and experiences. It will develop and share gender evaluation tools and methodologies. It will also encourage the implementation of gender-sensitive evaluations across the continent. AfrEA and UNIFEM would like to encourage other partners to join them in this effort.

African Youth Foundation (AYF)
The African Youth Foundation (AYF) is a non-profit development organisation based in Germany. AYF was created to aid young people in Africa, as well as African Nationals abroad to undertake projects which will enable them obtain skills necessary for their future livelihoods. The organisation's mandate is to promote youth education for African Nationals abroad and in Africa, as well as gender equality, with a view to mobilising and developing the talents of the youth to contribute meaningfully to national and global development. A concept which will motivate the youth to begin their own enterprises particularly in the informal sectors, other than migrating to other countries.

Agency for Madi Orphans and Widows (AFMOWO)
AFMOWO’s head office is found in Adjumani district of Uganda. The organization’s mission is to look after orphans, widows in their districts and to keep themselves current but not to be polluted by evil (James 1:27). The organization operates in 4 sub-counties in Adjumani district of Uganda and 3 sub-counties in Moyo district of Uganda. Activities are focused on empowerment, involvement of women in income generating activities and HIV/AIDS awareness as well as social counseling. Attention is paid particularly to women (widows) and orphans.

Agency for promoting Sustainable Development Initiatives (ASDI)
ASDI is committed to sustainable development by increasing incomes of poor agro-based groups in Apac district, Northern Uganda. This is done through appropriate training, savings, credit, marketing, team spirit and active participation with like minded organisations.

Another Life International (ALiWA)
Operating in Wakiso District, ALiWA's mission is to raise many from poverty to prosperity, from ruins to riches and to inspire people to have a reason to live.

Associates for Change (AFC)
Based in Kampala, AFC addresses issues of Women's human rights, Gender and Development, Legal literacy, Conflict resolution, and Information and Communication Technology.

Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS)
Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS) is a non-governmental, non-profit making research and policy institute. It works on the issues of environment and development, good governance and people's participation, and poverty alleviation and economic growth as approaches for addressing sustainable development.

Baobabconnections
The Baobabconnections project wants to provide an environment for young people from Africa and the Netherlands to share stories and express opinions about globalisation. If we want to know what globalisation is, how it affects the world in general and our world in particular, we need to meet at the Baobab tree and talk about it. The website will host an extensive information database on globalisation as a useful resource tool for people that want to formulate and share their own ideas on the website. Also there is an online magazine with articles written by people from various countries. If you are a writer and you want to voice your ideas about globalisation, please get involved. There is also an online competition with trips to Holland, Uganda, South Africa for the winners.

Build Up Again Ex-prisoners Association (BAP)
Established in 2001 BAP aims to change the moral fiber of criminals and vulnerable persons, equipping them with economic independence, knowledge and skills for self-development. Operating in five districts in Uganda the organization’s main focus is on Economic empowerment, Resettlement of ex-prisoners, Child Education, Rehabilitation and relief, Visits to prisoners homes and prisoners and Linking prisoners to families and friends. This is done through Counseling, Spiritual and psychosocial support, Income generating activities, Child sponsorship, and Resettlement of ex-convicts.

Bwoidha Oyegha Community Development and AIDS Association (BWOCODE)
Bwoidha Oyegha Community Development and AIDS Association was established in 2003 to create awareness among communities to effectively and efficiently manage society in the wake of HIV/AIDS. The organization operating in Baitambogwe Sub County, Mayuge District of Uganda covers areas of HIV/AIDS awareness raising through drama, counseling and care, handicrafts for income generation, processing of foodstuffs into products, savings, and support of the girl child. The organization targets orphans, women (widows), youth, HIV/AIDS affected persons and community. Poor networking among the stakeholders has contributed to backwardness in the area. Hence the call for help.

Centre for Development and Population Activities (CEDPA)
Founded in 1975, the Centre for Development and Population Activities (CEDPA) is an internationally recognized non-profit organization that improves the lives of women and girls in developing countries. CEDPA's approach is to work hand-in-hand with women leaders, local partners, and national and international organizations to give women the tools they need to improve their lives, families and communities. CEDPA's programs are aimed at increasing educational opportunities for girls and youth; ensuring access to lifesaving reproductive health and HIV/AIDS information and services; and strengthening women’s ability to become leaders in their communities and nations. Through sub-grants and technical assistance to local partners, CEDPA strengthens community organizations for lasting change.

Center for Integrated Development (CIDEV)
CIDEV is a non-governmental organization whose mission is to support natural resource-dependent poor communities with skills development and inputs for improved productivity and quality of life. This is done through initiating local level activities that enhance community innovations in the field of sustainable agriculture and natural resource and building capacity of farmers in proper land management in order to increase production and good animal husbandry. Founded in 2000, CIDEV targets natural resource dependent poor communities.

Changemakers.net is an initiative of Ashoka - Innovators for the Public, an organization that focuses on the rapidly growing world of social entrepreneurship. Its mission is to provide inspiration, resources, and opportunities for those interested in social change throughout the world.

Charity for Orphans and Women - Uganda (OWN-UGANDA)
OWN-Uganda's mission is to empower and improve the wellbeing of orphans, youth and women in Uganda, more so in the rural areas.

Child Development Foundation (C.D.F)
The Child Development Foundation is an initiative concerned with the education of disadvantaged children in Mbale, Eastern Uganda. C.D.F's mission is to provide education assistance to the needy so as to enable them enjoy equal social, economic and political opportunities with the rich who have all opportunities at their disposal. C.D.F has embarked on capacity building programmes to train community healthy workers and care givers in handling HIV/AIDS opportunistic infections. Issues addressed include labour and delivery, breastfeeding, implications of pregnancy to an HIV mother, and preventing mother to child HIV transmission.

CIVICUS
CIVICUS is an international alliance dedicated to strengthening citizen action and civil society throughout the world. CIVICUS' special purpose, therefore, is to help nurture the foundation, growth, protection and resourcing of citizen action throughout the world and especially in areas where participatory democracy, freedom of association of citizens and their funds for public benefit are threatened.

The Communication Initiative
The Communication Initiative is a partnership of development organisations seeking to support advances in the effectiveness and scale of communication interventions for positive international development. The C.I. strategy includes provision of real-time information on communication and development experiences and thinking, facilitating horizontal linkages between people engaged in communication action, peer commentary on programmes and strategies and taking opportunities to promote strategic thinking on communication and development issues and problems. Some of the activities include: updated news items and data from development sectors, an extensive [over 3,000 pages] web site with summaries of programmes, planning methodologies, evaluation methodologies, and a number of interactive features; a continually updated Events Calendar; the electronic magasine The Drum Beat; and, in the strategic thinking arena, work on both evaluation indicators to measure social change and the implications of the new technologies for the technical assistance strategies of international development organisations.

The Community Development Resource Network (CDRN)
CDRN was founded in 1994 with the aim of promoting participatory approaches to community development work and assisting organizations involved in such work become more effective. Development for the Poor
Development for the Poor (DP) is a registered non-governmental voluntary social development organization founded in 1984 in Bangladesh. ELDIS: The gateway to development information
ELDIS is a gateway to information on development issues, providing free and easy access to wide range of high quality online resources. ELDIS provides summaries and links to online documents and organisations in international development. ELDIS resources are searchable by resource guide, which include those on gender and a new dossier resource on gender and HIV/AIDS. Eldis is core funded by Danida, NORAD and SIDA, and hosted by the Institute of Development Studies (IDS).

Elimination of Hard Core Poverty (ELOHACOPO Foundation)
Founded in 2004, ELOHACOPO Foundation is a local Ugandan foundation and a non profit making organization which was formed to help homes and communities that are in total poverty to come up through voluntary work. ELOHACOPO Foundation’s mission is to minimize suffering among the poor. Areas of operation include income generation, housing, health, education and micro finance covering both urban and rural areas countrywide. The main focus of the foundation is sensitization of the masses on the tremendous effects of hard core poverty, mobilization of the masses for a goal-oriented program with education approaches.

Engabu Za Tooro - Tooro Youth Platform for Action (EZT)
Operating in Kabarole, Kyenjojo and Kamwenge, EZT's mission is to promote organizational discipline, and initiate group effort entreprenuership and community mobilization for competitive, integrated and sustainable development. While the original target was youth out of school, today EZT is creating activities that cater for the needs of all members of the community. EZT activities include conferences for youth in institutions, cultural research and education emphasised by elders in the community, functional adult literacy and vocational training for women.

Global Volunteer Network
Global Volunteer Network, a non profit organisation, places volunteers in community projects throughout the world, giving them the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational, environmental and community aid programs. Examples of the exciting and rewarding activities available to volunteers include teaching English, environmental work, AIDS education, and assisting in an orphanage.The network has a number of projects offered in the Mukono, Jinja, and Kampala area. The programs are aimed at providing primary and secondary education to needy children, orphan care, and community outreach and counseling, and adult literacy. Many of the projects will involve a flexible schedule of various community-based activities. Volunteers will be contributing to community-based development at the lowest local level.

Global Website on Electoral Quotas for Women
International IDEA and Stockholm University's Department of Political Science have launched a new global database website on Electoral Quotas for Women. This website is the first overview of the use of electoral quotas for women worldwide. It is a collaborative research project leading to the production of comparative knowledge and resources on electoral quotas for women and provides information on the various types of quotas in existence today, detailing the percentages and targets in countries where they are applicable. Comments and further information on quotas are encouraged in the 'comment' section of the website.

Fairland Foundation (FAFO)
Fairland Foundation is a non- governmental organization that seeks to improve the plight and welfare of the vulnerable especially the women, orphans, street children, disabled, and elderly. Started in 1998 the organization covers the areas of Kampala, Mukono, Kayunga, Jinja, Iganga and Bugiri districts of Uganda.
Areas of operation include education, basic health, economic empowerment, water and sanitation, human rights, alternative energy and relief. Fairland Foundation consists of a group of institutions that include Fairland University- Jinja and Fairland High School ­ Mukono. It is affiliated to Uganda Water and Sanitation NGO Network (UWASNET), Global Village Energy Project (GVEP) and World Association of NGOs (WANGO).

Family SupportNet is a website designed for individuals with disabilites of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and their families to access disability resources on the Internet. The site includes links to international communities, accessible activities for families, health issues, education, disability issues and more.

Operating in Kampala and Wakiso Districts, Focus Youth Development Association - Uganda (FYDA)'s mission is to empower young girls and youths with ICT skills as a gateway to the formal sector.

Foundation for African Development (FAD)
Foundation for African Development (FAD) is a Ugandan non-governmental organization established in 1979. FAD's mission is to contribute to the development of genuine, strong, self-reliant Civil Society through promotion of democratic values, human rights, social and economic development. FAD's activities are in the following departments: Education and Training, Publications, Consultancy, Research, and Gender and Youth in Development.

Foundation for Development of Needy Communities (FDNC)
Established in 1996, FDNC's mission is to enhance development through effective community participation towards self reliance and better livelihoods. FDNC pursues this mission by working together with grassroot communities for sustainable development. FDNC operates in Mbale and Sironko districts.

Foundation for Rural Housing, Sanitation and Environment (FHSE-UGANDA)
Foundation for Rural Housing, sanitation and environment is situated at block 244 Bukasa Road Namuwongo in Kampala. The organization was founded in 2003 and carries out activities throughout the country. The mission is to enable rural communities and their households such as grassroot rural women and children and vulnerable members of communities acquire better housing with enough space, ventilation and sanitation facilities through capacity building. This is done by involving and lobbying policy makers and government. Specific focus is on housing and sanitation for vulnerable rural communities and their households with emphasis on widows and children. FHSE Uganda is affiliated to and registered with the Uganda National NGO Forum.

Gender on the Development Gateway
Gender on the Development Gateway. The Development Gateway is being built to promote the exchange of knowledge on a wide range of topics including the topic of gender. There are over 700 entries on gender such as articles, policy documents, case studies, and useful web sites. These resources address such topics as gender and ICT, gender and violence, gender and HIV/AIDS, gender and poverty reduction, and gender and food security. Anyone can add content and sign up for automatic alerts and discussion threads. The site is available in several languages.

Generating Opportunities: Case Studies on Energy and Women
Generating Opportunities: Case Studies on Energy and Women is a look at selected projects that address women and energy with a view towards extracting lessons about criteria for good project design and successful implementation that can be used to inform energy policies around the world. Included is a case study of the Uganda Photovoltaic Pilot Project for Rural Electrification (UPPPRE).

Hope Case Foundation
Operating in the districts of Busia, Mayuge and Iganga, Hope Case Foundation's mission is to enhance the quality of life of the girlchild by helping her to be aware of her rights and responsibilities through advocacy and empowerment programs.

IDEA: Gender and Political Participation
The Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA)'s objective is to promote and advance sustainable democracy and to improve and consolidate electoral processes world-wide. In this regard, IDEA is committed to contributing to the debate to advance gender and democracy issues in general, and to promote women's participation and representation in political life. IDEA's gender programme aims to emphasize not only the quantitative aspects of women's representation, but also the qualitative impact of women in decision-making processes. Integrated Care and Development Initiative (ICDI)
With its base in Wakiso District, ICDI's mission is to foster the creation of a conducive environment for child development within the home for social and economic transformation towards development in Uganda and the whole world. ICDI came into existence as a result of voluntary service rendered to some few vulnerable children with education and youths especially girls with adolescent reproductive health, and HIV/AIDS information and counseling since 2000.

InterAfrica Group (IAG)
Founded in 1989 and based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, IAG's mission focuses on advancing peace, justice and respect for humanitarian law in the ‘Greater Horn’ of Africa. Their programs combine networking, civic education, advocacy, dialogue and research. Their immediate mandate includes the countries of the Horn of Africa, namely Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia and Sudan, while also dealing with the issues that have wider relevance on the continent.
Gender-focused organizations and activities are a growing part of the NGO sector, development discourse and civil society at large in the Horn. IAG's NGO Networking Service (NNS) aims to highlight the actors and actions engaged in raising awareness on gender issues. Participating in forums and events, researching who is who in the sector and investigating the salient issues are tools NNS uses towards this goal. Gender resources for research and advocacy are available from IAG's virtual resource center.

Inter-Rural Living Farmers and Health Activities Association (IRUFHA)
Operating in Imanyiro and Baitambogwe sub-counties of Mayuge District in Uganda, Inter-Rural Living Farmers and Health Activities Association’s is to uplift the standard of communities in promoting sustainable development through improved livelihoods. The organization, which was established in 2002 targets farmers, orphans and the elderly. Issues covered include health and women’s economic empowerment, improved organic agricultural techniques and home improvement campaigns. What is most lacking in the CSOs in the rural setting is technology especially computers for database management and improved information management systems. Not forgetting e-mail. Hence the call for training in such skills like computer training and access to them.

Kasubi Community Development Association (KACODA)
Operating in Kampala, Kiboga and Mubende districts, KACODA's mission is to offer support to families affected most by the social and economic effects of HIV/AIDS by providing to enable them have livelihoods.

Kenya Disabled Development Society (KDDS)
Kenya Disabled Development Society (KDDS) was formed in January 1992. The Society is exclusively manned by disabled persons. Its main objective is to develop the disabled persons educationally, socially and economically, hence fit in the mainstream of the society.

Laroo Child and Family Program
Based in Gulu, Northern Uganda, LAROO CFP's mission is to work with families and community to develop their children into self-reliant future adults within the community context in Laroo area of operation. LAROO CFP is affiliated with the Christian Children Fund.

Learning and Development Kenya
Learning and Development Kenya (LDK) is a national non-governmental, non-profit, non-sectarian development organization founded in June 1998. LDK is a member of the NGO Council of Kenya and Nakuru NGO Network. It implements its programmes together with other NGOs and Government ministries concerned with alleviation of extreme poverty, gender equality and technology integration.

Mayfair Adult Literacy for Economic Empowerment Initiative (MALFEE)
Operating in Wakiso, Kampala and Mukono districts, MALFEE's main mission is to develop healthy, self sustaining individuals/groups and effective communities, particularly women, youth and children through the provision of Adult Literacy Programs,promotion of reproductive health, nutrition, HIV/AIDS Campaigns, etc.

Mayuge Community Christian Development and AIDS Programme (MACCAP)
Mayuge Community Christian Development and AIDS Programme was established to be a platform for influencing the Christians to be able to address issues of development and have sustainable incomes in a collective way. Based in Mayuge District of Uganda, the organization deals in health and women’s economic empowerment, income generating activities and ministering love to the hurting world- drawing people to Christ. Activities include carry out campaigns/advocacy for reduction of domestic violence, child labor and abuse, poultry farming, piggery, farming as a business, training in HIV/AIDS awareness, ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and support to the elderly and orphans.
There is a lack of equipment to allow the members to document and link their findings with other development partners. The literacy levels are low hence the need to translate materials because most are in English. The increasing number of orphan-headed homes is also an issue that needs to be urgently addressed.

Mazinga Muslim Social Reform Society (MMSRS)
Operating in Mazinga-Buwunga, Masaka District, MMSRS's mission is to promote the education, health and social development of members who originate from and are resident in the area of operation.

Mengo Youth Development Link
Operating in Kampala, Mengo Youth Development Link's mission is to empower the less privileged communities, school dropouts, youth and women with practical managerial and marketable skills, valuable information which enhances their ability to influence changes in the community and determine a new course of development through self-help projects and participatory methodologies aimed at alleviating poverty.

Mukono Multi-purpose Youth Organisation (MUMYO)
Mukono Multi-purpose Youth Organisation is a non-profit grassroot organisation founded in 1992 to promote the rights and well being of the young men and women in Uganda through education, training, advocacy and information sharing for for self-reliance.

Nile Basin Resource Centre Programme (NBRCP) - Uganda
Operating in Northern Uganda, NBRCP's mission is to be a front runner in the alleviation of poverty in the country and stop further spread of HIV/AIDS.

The Nile Basin Society
The Nile Basin Society (NBS), a Canadian non-governmental organisation (NGO), spreads understanding between Nile Basin NGOs and media to help in development issues for the whole basin. NBS is a member of the Gender and Water Alliance (GWA).

Ntungamo Development Network - Uganda (NDN)
Based in Ntungamo District, NDN advocates for good development policies through good governance, capacity building and networking. Issues addressed include health, education and poverty eradication among women and other target groups of the district.

Pan African Development Education and Advocacy Programme (PADEAP)
Founded in 1997, PADEAP is a strategic center for the coordination of Pan African advocacy and development education initiatives. PADEAP’s mission is to create space and an enabling environment in which African peoples, their community organization, international NGO’s and other partners in African development can have dynamic engagement and dialogue on African Development issues. PADEAP Uganda is part of a bigger PADEAP family, which includes PADEAP - UK, PADEAP - Nigeria, and PADEAP - The Gambia.

Potential Resource Center
Potential Resource Centre (PRC) is a Ugandan non-governmental organization of young professionals whose aim is to identify the potential resources within themselves, their immediate communities, the country and the international communities and turn and/or exploit the potentials to achieve social, economic and personal professional development goals.

Presbytarian Church in Uganda - Nauyo Development Association
Based in Mbale district, PCU-NDA's mission is a networking association with one voice, empowering each member, providing demand-driven services to the communities.

Prospective Internationale
Prospective Internationale (PI) is engaged in research for sustainable development. Following the principle of bottom to top resources and proposals, it is coupled to an international network of communication including the Internet and television. PI uses the concept of Simultaneous Policy to democratically implement on a global scale the results of its investigations.

Rapha Outreach Ministries (ROM)
Based in Mbale, Eastern Uganda, Rapha Outreach Ministries's mission is to bring hope to vulnerable children through educational opportunities and spiritual growth through bible teaching.

Resource Team (U) Ltd
Resource Team (RT)’s mission is to increase client productivity through provision of adaptable management solutions. The organization operates in all areas of Uganda and deals with issues concerning women’s education and entrepreneurship and all areas of Human Resource development. RT conducts training in aspects of entrepreneurship, customer care, personal development, HIV/AIDS at the workplace, preparation for retirement, events management, research in Human Resource and gender, organizational development. Support for Orphans, Widows and Elderly Development Initiative (SOWEDI)
Operating in Nakasongola, Luweero district of Uganda, SOWEDI’s mission is to improve the standards of living and livelihood of the vulnerable groups in society. The organization, which was established in 2007, focuses on orphans education, HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns, women’s economic empowerment and training women in improved farming methods.
SOWEDI’s activities include providing orphans with scholastic materials and school fees, HIV/AIDS prevention seminars, agriculture training, distribution of improved seeds and starting up development projects. This while targeting orphans, widows, elderly, people with disabilities, and the local people (HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns only).

Tanzania Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (TANGO)

Uganda Development Services (UDS) is a Christian non-governmental organisation whose mission is to contribute to the socio-economic development of communities in Uganda, through information sharing and technical empowerment. UDS has established a Development Centre in Kamuli District, 90 miles east of Kampala - and aims to be a focal point for information, communication, training, advocacy, networking and other services.

Ugandaid: Gateway to information on humanitarian and development issues in Uganda
Ugandaid is intended as a central depository for information that is both derived from and intended for agencies involved in humanitarian, transitional and development activities. Ugandaid is an initiative of the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator. It is maintained by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on behalf of other UN Agencies, donors, NGOs, and the Government of Uganda. The site is intended to help, above all, the refugees, displaced, and victims of natural disasters and poverty in Uganda.

United Nations of Uganda (UNAU) Lake Victoria Project
As a result of a preparatory study conducted during the second half of 2004, a three-year joint programme for the United Nations Associations (UNAs) of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Sweden, was conceived. The programme consists of capacity building and organizational development of the three East African UNAs, and monitoring and campaigning for the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals with focus on HIV/AIDS, for sustainable development of the Lake Victoria Region. The Lake Victoria Project is to run from 2005-2008. In Uganda, like the other East African UNAs, the programme operational areas are the districts that make up the Lake Victoria Basin. This area is mainly populated by fishing and farming communities.

Youthful Initiatives for Economic, Environmental, Educational & Large - scale Development (YIELD)
The Youthful Initiatives for Economic, Environmental, Educational & Large - scale Development (YIELD) is a non - profit development, non - governmental organisation (NGO) which prioritizes sustainable development process and incorporates multi - disciplinary dimensions into the development. Of recent, YIELD has been involved in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) i.e Internet, Radio, TV, computer software & hardware, satellite communications to improve lives, reduce poverty and empower people. This it does by (1) understanding the role of knowledge and information in economic and social development, and the profound changes in the development process wrought by new technologies; (2) sharing strategies, tools, and experiences in harnessing knowledge for development; (3) building new partnerships that empower the poor with information and knowledge, foster international dialogue on development, and strengthen the knowledge and information resources of developing countries. Hence YIELD can be called a knowledge broker and serves sectors as health, human rights, gender, agriculture, rural development, sustainable development, population, governance, economics, education, environment and others.
