National Directory of ICT projects, Initiatives and Resource persons in Uganda

A joint project of I-Network Uganda and UgaBYTES Initiative


The Uganda National directory of ICT projects, initiatives and resource persons is a joint project between I-Network Uganda and UgaBYTES Initiative. The UgaBYTES Initiative, which is the initiator and co-financier of the 4 months project, is also the implementing agency. The project is also co-financed by I-Network Uganda in association with IICD Netherlands. The compilation project will run from May 1, 2003 to August 24, 2003.

The Directory is targeted to benefit and ease the ICT activities carried out by the following persons/organizations: ICT developers and designers, ICT development agencies, ICT policy makers and ICT projects, initiatives and resource persons in and around the country.

The directory will be available on the websites of UgaBYTES Initiative and I-Network Uganda in order to ensure an on-going Update and a wider access to the directory all over the world. It will also be distributed on CD ROM and in print physical version.

The directory will comprise of three major sections, which will include ICT projects, ICT initiatives and ICT resource persons in Uganda.

ICT Initiatives: These include all Organizations whose inception establishment and normal operational deal with and handle ICT related information that aims to support disadvantaged community such as education, women, youth, rural communities in the country. Main focus is settled on NGOs, Private Organizations, Public private partnership Initiatives and community initiatives enhancing ICTs in Uganda.

ICT Projects: Any unique ICT undertaking constrained by time and resources, which may be in its early implementation stage, towards finish stage or completed its pilot phase or under normal operation stage with well establish management and funding. Main focus is settled on NGO projects, Private Organization projects, Public private partnership projects and community projects or jointly run projects enhancing ICTs in Uganda.

Resource Person: Any person who has been involved in the designing, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of ICT projects and any other ICT related activity such as ICT policies, laws training for more than 3 years in Uganda. OR Any person with especial expertise, which have been utilized to further suitability and sustainability of ICTs in Ugandan communities.

Uganda National ICT Directory survey questionnaire
